What You Will Find at Each Installation
Boys and Girls Club Programs (BGCA)
BGCA has had a long and proud partnership with the military. All military youth centers worldwide are affiliated with BGCA. The program provides high-quality programs and curriculums that traditional Boys & Girls Clubs provide. In addition, one-year, no-cost memberships are provided to children of the approximately 70 percent of families who live outside military installations.
Youth in grades K – 12th can participate in a 4-H Club in their community, either on or off installation. 4-H Clubs meet on a regular basis. During meetings youth have fun as they learn new skills, participate in group projects and develop leadership skills as they work together with others. Youth select 4-H Project (s) to learn more about a topic that interests them. The clubs are led by volunteers, Youth Center staff, or local 4-H Extensions Agents. Youth are encouraged to take part in County public speaking events to build confidence, camps and exhibit their projects at local County Fairs, Achievement Days or Round-ups.
The Congressional Award is the United States Congress' award for young Americans. It is non-partisan, voluntary, and non-competitive. The program is open to all 14- to 23-year-olds. Earning the Award is a fun and interesting way to get more involved in something you already enjoy or something you'd like to try for the first time. Participants earn Bronze, Silver and Gold Congressional Award Certificates and Bronze, Silver and Gold Congressional Award Medals. Each level involves setting goals in four program areas; Volunteer Public Service, Personal Development, Physical Fitness, and Expedition/Exploration.
