My Air Force Life
   by Michael S

"Off we go, into the wild blue yonder, climbing high, into the sun..." A familiar phrase to all who live, work and play in the US Air Force Family. Being a part of this family is an adventure enabled by the freedom that we offer our lives to defend. The adventure for me began at Maxwell AFB with a direct commision from civilian life into the Health Services Administration career field. My intention was to serve my 36 month commitment, pay my dues to our great nation if you will, and then transition back to civilian life. Today, over ten years later, I find that I am still enjoying the great opportunities the Air Force offers me and my family. I have moved with my family of soon to be eight children to four differnt duty locations. We started our journey in Enid, Oklahoma and are now in Colorado Springs, CO by way of Denver, CO and Ramstein, Germany. Traveling the world like this provided us great opportunity to benefit from the strong ties we all share as Air Force Family members. Where ever we have gone, our family was there to ensure we all felt at home. So, while I am an American Airman, guardian of freedom and justice, my nations sword and shield, defending my country with my life, my Air Force Family is there for me. They supported me through the delivery of five of my seven current children and are standing by now for the eighth. They ensure that my family is warmly welcomed as part of the much larger Air Force Family no matter where we go. It is truly an honor to support and defend the constitution of the United States of America as a part of one of the best families around.
