New Air Force Family
   by Melanie S

The Air Force has been a part of my immediate family since I was 12 years old when my brother joined. I am now 32 and my husband at age 34 just entered the Air Force Reserves. This has been such a change for our family as my husband just left for basic training. We have two children ages 2 and 4 who are having a hard time understanding where and why their dad has left. The benefits so far have been amazing and adjusting to this new lifestyle has been hard. I have found some of the most amazing people and support inside our new military community.

I have found that being in the Air Force means having a stable job and the peace of mind in this time of economic stress. My family has been without health care for the past few years and it is such a relief knowing that if any of us need medical care then the Air Force is there to help. My husband is doing something so selfless as to take care of his family by devoting his life to the Air Force. He will be able to serve God, his country and his family. I am learning to become a better mother and a better wife all because of the Air Force. My children are so proud to say that their dad is a soldier.

There are not enough words to explain to the world how much the Air Force has changed our family. We look forward to a lifetime of benefits and support from the Air Force. So thank you USAF for saving our family in such a time of need.
