The Air Force is what got us through !

I have only been 20 years old as I had moved with my Husband into Military Housing Overseas. We were about to expect our first child and had just found out that my husbands first deployment is ahead of us. We became parents of a beautiful child and my Airmen had to leave 3 weeks after. I had not just become a mother but now I also had become a single Parent.I am german and my english at the time had not been that good to fully understand what people would say.To keep my mind of my husbands deployment and me being a single mom for a while,I decided to take advantage of what was out there for me. I went to the Family Support Center and decided to get into a english class. I was able to take my newborn with me and enjoyed the opportunity to get thaught while meeting other people with the same challenges as me.Of course I still had a newborn that would wake me up every two hours. It was like he knew that his dad was gone. That itself made me question myself sometimes, "can I do this"? "what should I do?"With no family around I remember having been told that our base had experienced Family Support personal to listen to us mommys that seemed overwhelmed (that was exactly what I was). It was great to have them come to my house. they would watch my baby for a couple hours so I could get rest they would meet us for lunch to get our minds of from our husbands being far away, putting their lifes on the line. I am thankful for the opportunities the Air Force has given me, the life I have gotten and learned to love and appreciate.
