So, What Does the Air Force Life Mean to Me?

My transformation from a civilian life to active duty changed my whole perspective of looking at life. So, what does the Air Force Life mean to me? As a person serving for almost two years in the maintenance field I can tell you many different things. However, if you want to succeed & excel in your job title you must keep these two things in mind. One, compliance, as Airman we must understand that there are rules we must always follow, no matter what. Never deviate from the T.O. however, if there is a way of doing something better, faster & safer, “than bring it”. What ever meets that criteria as well as saves money for the Air Force, those changes would be made to meet that mission. Two, pay a close attention to detail, as Airman we are always reminded of this constantly, this definition of paying close attention to detail is different from Airman to Airman. As a PMEL technician this is a golden rule we must always follow. Calibrating a weapon system properly can be the difference of hitting a target or not hitting it at all. If we don’t do our job at 100% the first time, than they can’t do their job, it’s simple as that. Reflecting back on all my experiences, I have come to understand that no job is better than anyone us. All jobs are important to make the Air Force run and meet its mission. We are the ultimate support for America, if we didn’t exist then there would be no one to turn to. Much sacrifice is needed form us; in order to serve and protect our country, what it believes in, what it stands for and freedom. This is what it means to be in the Air Force Life.
