My Military Life has Changed Me
   by Arcadia D

Being apart of the military has been a source of great strength, pride, and insight into diversity of America’s fabric. I have gained solace and strength in the arms of strangers who later became family. I have found pride in my country, my family and myself as we have all forged together to defend our selves and our way of life. As I have traveled the country and world for my country, we have had the privileged to meet new cultures but also meet new people from around the country. This wrapped within my 14 plus years has developed me into a better person but a renewed honor for our way of life. The greatest example of this was our move to Geilenkirchen, Germany. The change of life made it overwhelming for my family but the small military community was there for us every step of he way. When we first arrived several families offered to watch my daughter as we settled into the new environment, making it an easier move for my daughter. When we had out second child several wives delivered home cooked meals for my family for two weeks. This was great being my family was unable to come and assist during that time also allowing me to get ample rest. Lastly, our small community came together to provide for those in the war and even those affected by Hurricane Katrina. I appreciated and adored my time in Europe not only for the opportunity to see its beauty but to experience the love and pride within the military family
