Unexpected Surprises
   by Nicole B

In August of 2006 we found out we were having our second baby, we were more than excited. Less than 7 days later our excitement and smiles turned into Heartache, Fasting, Praying, Crying, Sadness, and Unbelief. Not only was I having a baby, I was also diagnosed with Cancer. I did not receive care for the Cancer until after our baby was born.

While seeing my PCM every month to check on the status of the Cancer and the baby, a side of the Air Force I had not seen before showed up at our doorstep. During our entire 14 months of uncertainty the Air Force was there for ALL of us.

Our OB/GYN was absolutely wonderful. Major B. checked on me at home, she sent me emails and continually stayed vigilant. As well as Col. A. who was stationed Lundstahl AB. Our home was not big enough for expanding family and I was in no condition to help my husband move our household. One Saturday half of the 728th AMS came to our home and moved us with their own POV's. To my surprise their spouses unpacked and decorated our new home.

After having the baby, surgery, and treatment we were welcomed with home cooked meals, volunteers to help watch our children, Phone calls, prayers, and well wishes.

Receiving such self-less acts of kindness, how could I possible not LOVE "My Air Force Life"?
