My Forever
   by Torie H

From the first time for me to fire the M-16, that’s when I saw him. Four years later at the armory of Kunsan AB, Korea; I turned in weapons for my squadron and ran into him again. The third time, 6 years later; attacks in the middle of the desert, and at moments fearing for my life, who would have known that he’d be my best-friend and help me see my forever?

Though I’d like to share my love story of how I met my husband through the Air Force, I’d really like to share my forever. In this Air Force, I’ve been fortunate to work towards obtaining 4 degrees, enhancing my career, and just climbing that government (as opposed to corporate) ladder. This Air Force opened my eyes to really see “my forever!” Forever doesn’t mean me finding just my husband, but finding this desire within to know who I am, and what I want. I want to retire and do more for my country by being here. For me to find love, happiness, and my ever after, the Air Force kind of seems like a fairy tale to me. But in all reality, it’s my destiny. Forever, I’m devoted to my country. Forever, I’m committed to be. Forever, I am a warrior. Forever American is Me!!! Forever, the Air Force is. Forever an Airman I'll be! Living my life, I’ve grown, I’ve matured, and I’ve excelled. In work, I’ve accomplished, maintained, and developed. In play, I’ve released, exhaled, and caught up. Finally, in forever I’m content doing it all over again if I have to.
