Air Force Is The Way
by Dawnika C
Coming from a small town in Fort Pierce, Fl. I didn't want to grow up like: your average Floridan. I wanted to be someone that people would always remember! I did all that I needed to make it through. From elementary, middle, then proceding on to high school. I graduated, but didn't know exactly what I wanted to accomplish next. I took the time thinking and thinking; but still nothing. I asked myself: What do I want to be? Who do I want to become? All I knew, is that I wanted to make a differece and help others; at the same time being successful. Then I realized that I wasn't going to make a decision anytime soon, but I didn't want to sit around doing nothing, going no-where. So one day I decided to join the military. Honestly, it was a toss-up between the Airforce and the Navy. Being that my sister is in the Navy, I didn't want to be like her either, so I chose the Air Force. Some time there after, I graduated basic, tech school, then on to my first duty station. I really feel as if I have become a stronger person, on the inside and out. Who at the age of 19, has had to learn to grow up and become independent, very fast. It makes me feel real good having a gauranteed job with benefits, allowing me a chance to fight for my country; by becoming involved and being heard. Also, knowing that I can depend on my wingman, in return having my wingman's back. I am proud warrior Airman and I thank God for that. HOAH
