Who could ask for a better life?
   by Lori S

My Air Force life has been more rewarding than I could have ever imagined. I have a great husband with whom I share the same morals and values; we are committed to God, our family and serving our country. We have been blessed with three beautiful children and I was afforded the opportunity to stay home with them as they grew up. I have been a military wife for 20 and we have lived and visited some wonderful places in this country and made lifelong friends along the way. We are truly living the American dream. I am proud of my husband and his dedication to the military. We strive to live by the Air Force core values…Integrity, Commitment and Excellence. As my husband has advanced in his career, we have found ourselves in positions of great influence. As a Commanders Spouse, I was confronted with the opportunity to mentor and help squadron families on a daily basis. The military has a lot to offer family members, from education benefits to weight loss programs. I have stayed informed, shared information and taken advantage of many programs; completing my bachelor’s degree last year. I have served as a Key Spouse, volunteered at events, published monthly newsletters, served on committees and organized parties. I have comforted a family who lost a loved one and been one of the first people to welcome a friend’s new baby into the world. I have been a listening ear for a friend dealing with deployment issues and encouraged spouses to reach for their dreams. Being a military spouse has given me the tools, skills and confidence that I need to be successful in all endeavors I undertake and will benefit all of the organizations I am a part of. Who could ask for a better life?
