"My Air Force Life"
   by Aneliya A

I am Bulgarian. I am a world traveler and my home travels with me. I am in love with an American Hero. I am a military spouse! Few years ago I had no idea what the American Air Force, or any AF in that matter, is all about. I left my country when I was 18 to further my education in Germany. To pursue success where many have failed. Going to a country I had no idea of, speaking none of its language, not knowing a single soul there, majoring in subject I wasn’t good at, just all seemed as a good idea at the time. But when the real battle began I’ve realized that one needs more than a good spirit in life . Then came he, and everything started to make sense. He showed me his ways-love, honor, bravery, faith, patriotism, discipline. I knew then- I can do anything, as long as we walk hand in hand. As the years pass, we’ve done and seen a lot, and as we went along I’ve learned what the AF Life is all about. I’ve learned that if you ask 15 random people to sign a postcard for your deployed spouse,15 will do it with honor. You are not alone- you’ll always find another friendly face with that calm, yet uneasy look. No matter how many sleepless nights you’ve had, when the bus comes and you see your loved one’s smile, all the pain is gone. There are always people looking after you, and ones thankful for your peaceful service. I am not a hero. I haven’t fought bravely in a war. But I do serve my share for a better cause. I keep the warmth of the house until my soldier comes home. I keep my head high, and this is what my AF Life is all about.
