Paying it Forward
by Shandanh T
My life as an Air Force member was spectacular. As a small town Georgia girl, I ventured off to see the world. I knew this was the best decision I could make with added benefits of school and medical that came along with it. I joined searching for my own identity aside from my other siblings. Spoiled rotten to the core with so many selfish intents until I completed basic training and officially became a mature young lady. The Air Force environment has given me the life that most people from my home town wish they had. From deployments, to asssignments, to marriage, to births, and even sadly to say deaths as well, my Air Force family has always been a part of that with me. I never knew how to feel so much a part of something as I did with the Air Force. As I embarked on contracting services after 13 years of serving my country I felt the need to pay it forward. My core values are just as much a part of me and my family as they were when I was serving. I give great insight to those interested in joining the armed services and provide them with my testimony how great the Air Force has been to me and the opportunities it has also provided. The Air Force is such a great employer that I must pay it forward to let those considering to embark on the opportunity. It has and will remain a memorable part of my life.
