FAQ

AM I ELIGIBLE?

Can my family receive a PLAYpass Card if my spouse is on a Dependent Restricted Assignment for 12 months?

Yes, as long as the assignment is for more than 6 months to a qualifying Dependent Restricted Assignment.  Your Airman & Family Readiness Center has a list of specific locations.

My spouse is on a 365-PCS to a deployed location. Can I get a PLAYpass Card?

Yes, if they have PCS'd to a forward location and the orders indicate it is in support of an active Operation. Simply present a copy of your orders when picking up your PLAYpass card.

What if I was deployed before the program started. Can I get a PLAYpass card?

Yes, in most cases. We are extending the offer to families and Single Airmen affected by deployment/dependent restricted assignment as of 1 Dec 10. Even if you returned but were deployed/dependent restricted assignment in December 10, we will provide a PLAYpass card for you and/or your family as long as all other criteria are met.

My spouse and I do not have children. Are we eligible for the PLAYpass card?

Yes, you are entitled to the family program offerings. Pick yours up today!

I'm single but recently returned from deployment; can I get a PLAYpass card?

Yes, as long as all other criteria is met for deployment status.  Don't forget, your benefits allow you to bring a friend, if you choose.

I'm single but I have children can I get a PLAYpass card for my children?

Yes, absolutely.  In this case you should opt for the Family/Youth PLAYpass card instead of the Single Airmen PLAYpass card.  This way your children may enjoy the benefits while you are away.

I'm single and want to get a PLAYpass card upon my return but my children had a Family/Youth card during my deployment.  Am I eligible?

If you received a family and youth card for your children and caretaker: then you would not be authorized a second card.  You may use any remaining balance on the family card up to 90 days after your return

I have children under 3 years of age, there are no classes or programs for this age. What can I do with a card for them?

If your base offers programs for children under three, you may of course use your card for them. Plus you will receive up to 10 hours of hourly childcare per child. (All applicable Child Development Center (CDC) rules apply)

Are deployed Air National Guard families entitled to PLAYpass card?

Yes, if the family is located near an active Air Force base. Due to the types of funding, your cards are only valid during the actual deployment/dependent restricted assignment and expire upon your return.

I'm a single Air National Guard, am I entitled to PLAYpass card?

Unfortunately, due to the types of funding, a card is not authorized.

Are deployed/dependent restricted assignment Air Force Reserve (AFR) families entitled to PLAYpass cards?

Yes, if your family is located near or on an active Air Force base they may use the cards for both: the family offerings and the youth classes, sports and hourly childcare. However, if you are located at an Air Force Reserve (AFR) installation and do not live near or will not be visiting an active Air Force installation that has programs available; a card will not be beneficial.  The Air Force Reserve Command has a very active Yellow Ribbon program that helps support deployed AFR personnel affected by deployment.

AFR families and Single Airmen may use the cards after deployment if all other criteria are met and they are close to an active Air Force installation that supports the program.

TENANT ORGANZATION:  I'm Army/Navy or Marine, but I my home station is an official tenant organization hosted by an Air Force base. Can I get a PLAYpass card?

Yes, if you are officially assigned (home station) to a tenant organization of an active Air Force base and your family is located on or near an active Air Force base.

JOINT BASE:  I'm Army/Navy or Marine, but my home station is on a JOINT BASE, where Morale, Welfare and Recreation is operated by the Air Force Force Support Squadron (FSS).  Am I eligible for a card?  Due to funding sources and the limited funds you would not be eligible for a PLAYpass card.  But your branch of Service has great programs and funding designed to support you and your family during deployment.

JOINT BASE:  I'm Air Force, and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) is operated by another branch of Service, instead of the Air Force Force Support Squadron (FSS).  Am I eligible for a card?    The following installations fall into this category:

á       Bolling AFB

á       McChord AFB

á       Pope AFB

á       Hickam AFB

á       Pentagon

á       Andersen AB

Currently we are working with the MWR and Resource Management offices of the respective Services to determine the feasibility of their support.  In the meantime you of course may go to the nearest active Air Force base where Force Support Squadrons run the recreational activities, pick up a card and use it at their activities.  Please contact us via email at AFSVA.SVK.PLAYPASS@us.af.mil  to request updates and changes to the program as they become available for your installation.

I'm leaving the area during my spouse's deployment, but my neighbor wants to use my PLAYpass?

Sorry but the card is only for the immediate family of the deployed member or Single Airmen.

Do I receive 10 hours of hourly child care per child?

Yes, each child is eligible for up to 10 hours of free hourly childcare, providing your installation offers this program and is operated by an Air Force Support Squadron (FSS).
